There is a store in Moriarty that has a restaurant attached to it. Typically, the restaurant does not open until 3:30 in the afternoon. There were several of us that wanted to go to the store early on Black Friday as the owner had received some new shipments of product that we wanted to look at and asked the owner if they could open up early. The individual that accomodated this request was off on Friday and currently works three jobs – this was her first full day off from all three jobs in several weeks. She happily came in to fill the time slot from 1:30 to 3:30 and was so pleasant. We knew nothing about her personal life until the owner shared her story. I gave her the envelope as she was leaving – she even transferred out tab to the individual that was scheduled to open at 3:30 and was not even going to ask us to close out so she could get her tips. In speaking with her, she is a single mother of 3. This makes a huge difference. Her kids are enrolled in sports and she works so hard to pay for their activities – this hit home! Any person who has a child involved in sports knows how expensive these extracurricular activities can be!
